What We Do
Comprised of a core of 65 dedicated musicians who have the special skills needed to perform contemporary orchestral music, Esprit presents an annual subscription concert series in Toronto.

Esprit Orchestra is devoted to developing a Canadian musical literature legacy. To this end, it commissions and premieres new works each season and ensures continued public access to these works through encore performances, radio broadcasts, compact disc and film recordings, and national and international tours. Esprit's concerts are regularly recorded for broadcast on CBC Radio Two.
Esprit Orchestra presents an annual series of educational and outreach events and performances. Esprit works vigorously to introduce young audiences to the orchestral music-making. Esprit’s education programs, include the Student Audience Program, providing free concert tickets to GTA youth, Toward A Living Art, in which students attend working rehearsals and concerts for students, Creative Sparks, in which high school music classes are paired with working composers to create student group compositions, Criss-Cross, which combines Creative Sparks participants with artists from other disciplines.
The crown jewel of Esprit’s outreach program is the New Wave Composers Festival, a platform that engages young composers, showcases their works and helps launch their careers.
