Alex Pauk Appointed Order of Canada

Alex Pauk

We are very proud to announce that the Governor General of Canada, the Right Honourable David Johnston, has appointed Esprit Orchestra's founder, director, and conductor, Alex Pauk, to the Order of Canada. The official ceremony will take place in September 2015.

The Order of Canada, one of Canada's highest civilian honours, recognizes a lifetime of distinguished service to the nation, outstanding achievement, and dedication to the community. Alex Pauk received this extraordinary recognition for his commitment to excellence, his "contributions to the development of contemporary Canadian orchestral music and for his promotion of Canada's composers." Congratulations, Alex!

“New music” can be many things: difficult, challenging, original, mind-bending. But thanks to Alex Pauk and his Esprit Orchestra, in their final concert of their 30th anniversary season, “new music” on Thursday night was powerful, gripping, and creative.
